When Pure Paws owner Dr. Stephanie Liff moved to New York in 2009, she landed in Hell’s Kitchen, working at a local veterinary practice, living just a few blocks from the streets that, years later, would become home to a dream she’d been carrying for a long time.
Dr. Liff fell in love with the soul of Hell’s Kitchen right away – the tight-knit feel of it, the way people knew their neighbors and their neighbors’ dogs by name. There’s a particular kind of love Hell’s Kitchen has for its pets. Bone-deep. Neighborly. The kind that fills up a waiting room with regulars who know each other’s names, too.
In 2014, Dr. Stephanie Liff became an owner of Pure Paws Vet Care of Clinton Hill. From the moment she started thinking about where to expand next, she knew Hell’s Kitchen was the only neighborhood she wanted to be in. Two years later, in 2016, we opened our doors here.
Ten years later, the reality has exceeded her wildest dreams.
How far we’ve come
What started as a single clinic with big hopes has grown into three locations across NYC, a team of seven doctors, and two more joining us this summer. We’ve become a proud sponsor of 42nd Street Magazine and contribute a monthly column on pet care for the neighborhood.
We’ve stood beside our Hell’s Kitchen neighbors at Muddy Paws Rescue, and partnered with PupStarz and Hearts and Bones to help care for pets in foster care – alongside the local patients we love and care for every single day.
But the real measure of these ten years isn’t in numbers or locations. It’s in the puppies who became dogs in our exam rooms. The senior cats whose families trusted us through their last good years. The new pets welcomed into our patient family in your apartments, in your routines, in your hearts.
